During my final project at Hyper Island, we were surprised by Adidas with a brief for South by Southwest, one of the worlds largest Music, film and digital festivals, held annually in Austin, Texas.

The brief was to create a digital experience for the festival. The hook? We only had 40 hours to complete the brief. We competed against 20 other groups at Hyper Island.

My group Talkie Walkie won the pitch!

In the Digital Agency module at Hyper Island we created the branding for a swedish company called Talent relations. I created the logo as well as a brandbook which you can see below. The company has now adopted our design and you can watch it here: http://www.talentrelations.se/

A video summary of the 3-day festival

Hyper Island asked me to travel to Madrid for a few days to speak at the IAB festival Inspirational 11'. It is an international digital media festival that includes keynotes and workshops from key people in the industry.

I gave a talk on my insights that i've gotten from studying at Hyper island and showed some cases I've been working on lately. The response was amazing.

In our final project our Hyper Island, one of our clients were the swedish IBE-creator (Internet booking engine) Linkon. The brief: to create an identity and a design for their new IBE. It had the project name "Hela Resan" and their goal was to create an IBE that incorporated all modes of transportation within one single site.

All they had was a back-end and the API's of the different travel companies. We built a strategy, identity, brand foundation, logo, name, visual mock-up and marketing strategy.

I worked mostly on the strategy and identity of the brand.

The visionary case movie we did for 100-wattaren

In our final project at Hyper Island, our group decided to take on two briefs and work with them simultaneously. One of our clients were the creators of the advertising award event 100-wattaren. There were four parties involved: our group at Hyper Island, the client (Association of swedish advertisers), their event agency (Eventum) and their advertising agency (Storåkers McCann).

We quickly realized that what their event really needed was a digital revamp. The role we chose to take was that of digital consultants.

One of the first steps we decided to take was to invite all the parties to an idea generation workshop. The objective was to align our ideas with the clients and to give them a glimpse of how we work at Hyper Island. I hosted and facilitated the 3 hour workshop. Here is a video i edited after the workshop

Idea Generation Workshop at Hyper Island with our clients

The ideas generated during the workshop led to a vision of what the future of 100-wattaren should look like. Together with students in the Motion Graphic Designer program we created a film that took the ideas from the workshop and put them in a concept. I was the creative director of the movie and the main contact with the motion graphic team. The result is visible above.

This is me playing with the application on my computer. It is using the built in webcamera to detect my face. We are currently working on a case movie for the project that will be up soon.

Last semester at Hyper Island, we got a brief from Benetton to create an interactive application for their store windows. The application was to answer to a certain theme. We chose to work with the theme "the scarcity of water in the world". We created an application called Let it Grow.

In this project, I had the role of Creative Director. I worked on the idea development as well as leading a team of 10 people. We had the Brief from Benetton as well as a second client. I also created the animation for the application.

This is how it works: As soon as you step in front of the store window (8x3m big) a camera inside the window recognizes your face. An umbrella appears on the screen to represent your movement. The umbrella breaks the streams of water coming down from the top of the screen and waters the ground. As the water hits the ground, plants will start growing all the way to the top of the screen. When you step a way from the screen, the umbrella disappears and the plants retract back into the ground.

Ever since I was a child I have been playing the clarinet. In 2005, some high-school friends and I started a small klezmer/balkan-band for a big party at our school. The show was a success and we decided to keep on playing. Over the years, some members have changed but our core concept has always been the same; to deliver punchy folk music from all over the world that makes people dance. We call ourselves Davaj, which is russian for "come on!".

I wanted to explore the relation between music and other forms of creativity such as traditional art and video content. I also wanted to do something completely different from what i usually do during school hours.

Another question that i wanted an answer for was: What happens if i put 20 of my classmates in a room and let them bang on instruments and inspire them with weird poetic texts about a far away land called Ologolo?

That is why i created Ologolo. It was an improvisational audiovisual jam session that lasted for 3 hours. For the duration of the workshop, there was no talking allowed and the participants only creative input came from a story that was displayed projected onto a wall. It told the tale of the made up land Ologolo with descriptive and poetic text about events in that world.

Big thanks to Raymo Ventura for filming and editing the video!

The only instructions the participants got a day before the workshop
